GL, Honey Baby Sweetie Pie (I know I generally only use those terms for LewBaby) you need to understand a few things.

1. If one has big money (like more than the $1.00 I found in my jacket yesterday) one can do what ever one wants and get away with it. Especially if one sanititizes one's family history.

2. Riff-raff like you and me will never know how it feels. Even if we each hit the big one the lottery, it would be all new money, and not enough. It would take generations for us to get away with murder.

I said it yesterday, and I'll say it again. Human to human, I wish no one brain cancer. Ted Kennedy? Meh. I hope he suffers as much as Mary Jo did.

I agree with you on most of your points Gae, but OJ was "new money". Money is money these days. Doesn't matter how long you have had it, you can buy your way out of anything...

First off, since apparently I'm no longer the only Honey Baby Sweetie Pie, I'm not even sure if I'm going to address Gae's comments (in this thread or ever again, for that matter) When the hurt goes away, maybe I'll revisit this issue.

As for GL's comments, let offer the following:

1) Teddy Bear- as you well know, I often check in at Democratic Underground as well as Free Conservatives. In my opinion, as opposite as they think they are, they're actually the same. When Teddy dies, there will be a celebration on FC. And then there will be those on DU who are shocked at the callousness of those a-holes at FC for celebrating someone's death.

Of course, when Jerry Falwell died, there was a party at DU. And at FC, they were stunned at the callousness of those a-holes at DU for celebrating someone's death.

It would all be comical if it weren't for the fact that it's so sad.

Again, I think it's a sad legacy when you have a man who killed someone get re-elected (often by a 60-40 margin or more) seven times. I disagree with whats-her-name in that I don't think he "murdered" her, but there's no question he was responsible for the death of another human being.

But also again, my feelings on this are irrespective of ideology. If Teddy had been a dyed-in-the-wool Reagan conservative, the folks at FC wouldn't have a problem with him (for the same reasons that the folks at DU don't have a problem with him now).

2) Orenthal- we've touched on him a little in the past, but my feelings on him, while clearly in the minority, are clearly right- do I think he killed Ron and Nicole? Of course. Do I think he should have been acquitted? Yes I do. And believe it or not, I don't think he "bought" his way out of it by hiring his dream team of defense lawyers so much as I feel the prosecutors did everything they could to botch it.

I had the privilege of hearing Dr. Henry Lee speak one time, and he showed us some pictures and talked about Ron and Nicole. He would not give his opinion of the Juice's guilt, but he did feel that the LAPD did NOT follow proper forensic procedures in their investigation (too many people on the scene, too much contamination of the scene itself, etc.)

But beyond that....I mean, take Mark Furman, for example. OK, so he used the "N" word he claimed because he was giving a book interview. OK fine, then when F. Lee asks if he's used that word, you answer "yes" and move on. Juries may accept excuses. They absolutely will not go for being lied to.

The glove....I mean, I don't even want to go there. A law student would have gotten an F for pulling a move like that in trial class.

The public wanted to rain on Johnnie and Shapiro and those cats, but the fact is, all they did is pick up the fumbles. It was Marica and Chris who kept fumbling the ball time after time, and that's where the public should really be mad. I may not be a fan of our own Hamilton County prosecutor's office, but I guarantee you Mr. Piepmeyer would have gotten a conviction (as would most any competent prosecutor who focused on the case rather than book deals and celebrity status)

But at the end of the day, the jury isn't supposed to decide on "we know he did it," they're supposed to decide on the evidence presented to them and the manner in which it was presented. And when you have a prosecutor saying "well, Mark Furman may be a liar on some things, but not about OJ's guilt" and crap like that, you know, that's where "reasonable doubt" starts to grow.

And yes I know I'm in the minority on this one, but so be it. And besides, as I've commented before, everyone always whine about how he killed Nicole, but no ever asks the most important question of all- how do we know she didn't have it coming to her?

I see your points. But I dislike Ted and Falwell equally. To me they are opposite sides of the same caustic coin poisoning this country. Specifically the far right and the far left are equaly damaging.
